This weekend’s #lpInstaTakeover comes courtesy of #lpPathfinders member @hey_ciara, who will be sharing a selection of images from her recent trip to #Morocco. — ‘Once we stepped into the medina, I was smacked with the overwhelming smells and sights of my surroundings. The sound of sandals clacking against the hot pavement, donkeys straining to pull carts of who-knows-what, motors from every form of transportation you could imagine, spices on spices on spices, winding streets that made me feel as if I was in a maze, textiles more beautiful than I’ve ever seen, the call to prayer sung in every corner… #Marrakech made me feel alive!’ – @hey_ciara — Follow our feed this weekend for more of Ciara’s colourful captures!

Lonely Planet: Travel Tips, Holiday Ideas, Backpacking and Vacation Inspiration – March 25, 2018 at 07:00AM

‘My last weekend trip in #NewZealand was to #Castlepoint, located along the #Wairarapa coast. A few hours’ drive from #Wellington make it somewhat off the beaten path. Renting a Bach (the Kiwi word for holiday home) and admiring the clear starlit sky was breathtaking. The sunrise the following morning behind the lighthouse was spectacular, and it made for the perfect end to my time living in the country, especially sharing my final memories with a great friend who had made me feel so at home on the other side of the world.’ – @danflyingsolo — That’s all for this weekend’s #lpinstatakeover! Lonely Planet: Travel Tips, Holiday Ideas, Backpacking and Vacation Inspiration – March 25, 2018 at 12:00AM

‘The ‘adventure capital’ of #NewZealand, and arguably the world, is #Queenstown. This gem on the south island is famed for its bungee jumps, rapids and outside activities but the landscapes are indeed the star of the show. One of my favourite views across the town was from the Skyline, where Gondolas transport you high above to a lookout point. Being one of the most popular attractions in the country, expect some crowds, but I highly recommend coming up for sunset before enjoying a meal looking down on the lights in the valley below.’ – @danflyingsolo #lpinstatakeover #lppathfinders

Lonely Planet: Travel Tips, Holiday Ideas, Backpacking and Vacation Inspiration – March 24, 2018 at 08:00AM

‘Another must-visit in the country is also located in #Rotorua, and was by far my favourite place. With many volcanoes in the area and the geothermal activity underground, throughout the town you can see geysers, mud pools and hot springs. Some of the most impressive of these can be found at Wai-O-Tapu Thermal Wonderland, where a kaleidoscope of colours and otherworldly landscapes are so unusual, they almost seem unreal.’ – @danflyingsolo #NewZealand #lpinstatakeover #lppathfinders

Lonely Planet: Travel Tips, Holiday Ideas, Backpacking and Vacation Inspiration – March 24, 2018 at 01:00AM

‘The Whakarewarewa Forest, also known as the #Redwoods, is located in #Rotorua. This formidable forest is home to towering Californian Coast Redwoods and is the ideal place for mountain biking or walking surrounded by nature. Inheriting its name from the original Maori settlement here, Te Whakarewarewa Tanga o te Ope Taua a Wahiao, it’s an exceptional place and an essential part of the local landscape.’ – @danflyingsolo #NewZealand #lpinstatakeover #lppathfinders

‘#Mauritius is famous for its aquamarine waters, powdery-white beaches and, of course, luxury resorts – and we weren’t going to miss out on a spot of luxury! Our favourite Mauritian sunset was off the northern beach of Trou-aux-Biches. We enjoyed some of the most beautiful views of the Indian Ocean from this fantastic spot. ‘Another day and another gorgeous #beach in #Mauritius. This time it’s on the southeastern coast of the island near Blue Bay. The wildlife reserve of Blue Bay Marine Park surrounds Pointe d’Esny and Blue Bay at the more tranquil and less developed end of the island. This means that high-speed watercraft aren’t allowed in the area allowing for quiet waters and gorgeous scenes like this.’ – @atlasandboots #lpInstaTakeover #LonelyPlanet #travel

‘The bizarrely shaped Crystal Rock off the southwestern coast near the Le Morne Brabant peninsula in #Mauritius. We took a boat trip to Ile aux Benitiers (Benitiers Island) during our stay. It’s a fifteen minute ride across the reef that surrounds the peninsular at Le Morne. En route you’ll come across some some bizarre little ‘blips’ in the water such as Crystal Rock making for an amazing photo opportunity.’ — @atlasandboots #lpInstaTakeover #LonelyPlanet #travel

#LonelyPlanet’s @chrismzeiher is currently on the road exploring #Japan. He snapped this shot of the famous symbol of Miyajima, the Floating Torii (shrine gate). Standing out in the bay and serving as the watery entrance to World Heritage shrine Itsukushima-jinja, this vermilion torii stands at 16m-tall. ‘It’s easy to see why so many tourists visit the Fushimi Inari Taisha shrine each year. This was one of my favorite areas to explore in #Kyoto. There are over 10,000 of these bright orange Torii gates that lead to the shrines that honor Inari, the Shinto god of rice. Each gate was donated by various individuals and businesses and walking through them was an adventure – they seem to continue on forever. Pictures just don’t do this place justice, you must visit!’ – @fromheretosunday — That’s all for this weekend’s #lpInstaTakeover! Follow @fromheretosunday for more #travel shots!

‘A scene of buildings upon buildings, here’s a view of #Tokyo facing west towards Mount Fuji. From this shot, you can’t quite make out just how busy this capital city really is on the streets. The greater Tokyo area is said to have the most populous metropolitan area in the world. It is amazing to see just how orderly and efficient this city is, especially with their well-organized public transit system. Beyond the infrastructure, the people are always what make a city come to life, and Japanese people are some of the friendliest I’ve met along my travels.’ – @fromheretosunday #lpInstaTakeover #japan

‘From the hustle and bustle of #Tokyo to the peaceful bamboo forest in #Kyoto and all the quaint towns in between, #Japan has so much to offer. Visiting this famous bamboo grove in #Arashiyama was one of the highlights of my trip. Given bamboo has strong roots, it is seen as a symbol of prosperity and strength in Japan. I felt so small walking through this green path, the early morning light shone down through the forest creating a magical setting everyone should experience.’ – @fromheretosunday #lpInstaTakeover #travel

‘Offering ample photo opportunities, Mount Fuji is a beautiful example of mother nature at her best. A truly stunning sight to see in person, #Fuji is an active volcano standing at 3,776 meters and is #Japan’s highest mountain. It has been worshipped for centuries as a source for artistic inspiration. We were very lucky to see it in all of its glory on what felt like a summer day, though I took this in late October. Maintaining its beauty through four distinct seasons, I would love to go back and admire it again during spring and winter.’ – @fromheretosunday #lpInstaTakeover #travel
